ÁRBOL DEL AMOR O ÁRBOL DE JUDAS
Su origen es la región mediterránea oriental (sur de Europa y oeste de Asia) en la orilla de arroyos y formando bosquetes bajos. Se le conoce como árbol del amor por la forma acorazonada de sus hojas.
Las flores brotan en primavera antes que las hojas, ofreciendo un espectáculo de ramas repletas de flores de un rosa intenso que además son comestibles.
Curiosidad: un antiguo mito dice que de este árbol se ahorcó Judas Iscariote después de traicionar a Cristo lo que probablemente sea una corrupción del nombre común en francés "Arbre de Judée" que significa árbol de Judea, refiriéndose a la región donde se da.
THE TREE OF LOVE OR JUDAS TREE
Its origin is the Eastern Mediterranean region (southern Europe and western Asia) on the banks of streams forming low thickets. It is known as the tree of love by the heart-shape of its leaves
Flowers bloom in spring before leaves unfold, offering a show of branches filled with intense pink flowers which are edible.
As a point of interest: an old myth says that from this tree Judas Iscariot hanged himself after betraying Christ, what is probably an adulteration of its common name in French "Arbre de Judée " meaning tree of Judea, referring to the region where it grows.
