Pino Piñonero

El área de distribución del pino piñonero es mediterránea, se encuentra desde Turquía hasta la península Ibérica. Curiosamente faltan en el norte de África. Son pinares muy característicos y fáciles de identificar debido al porte globoso y en forma de parasol.

Esta especie, al igual que otras especies de pinos ha sido muy favorecida por las repoblaciones. Debido a esta circunstancia su área natural no se conoce. Es un árbol que habita las zonas con cotas muy bajas y preferentemente cercanas a las costas.

Sus piñas son comestibles y su semilla, el p1non tiene un alto valor comercial en la industria alimentaria. Antiguamente los vecinos de Marbella utilizaban los piñones para añadirlos a un buen vaso de leche y de esta forma conseguir un sabroso batido.

Pine-Nut Tree (Pinus Pinea)

The area of distribution of the Pine-Nut Tree is the Mediterranean, from Turkey to the lberian Peninsula. Curiously enough, there are none in the north of Africa. They are very characteristic and easy to identify dueto their glorious size and their umbrella shape.

This species, like other pine species, has been helped by reforestation. Because of this, its natural area is unknown. 1t is found at low altitudes, usual/y by the coast.

lts pine-cone is edible and its seed - the pine-nut - has a high value in the agriculture industry. A long time ago, residents of Marbella would add pine-nuts to their glass of mi/k in arder to produce a tasty mi/k shake.
